Introduction

Daniel Gillespie Clowes was born in Chicago, on the 14th of April, 1961. He was an American graphic artist and comic writer. He has also done illustrations for many magazines, including The New Yorker, Details, Esquire and Village Art, among many others, posters for the film including the film of Todd Solondz's Happiness, and even cartoons, the video “I do not want to grow up" by The Ramones (Garner, p. 87). He studied art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. After college, he unsuccessfully tried to get work as an illustrator in New York, between 1985 and 1989 and contributed in both text and drawings made ??for cracked magazine, where he developed especially a section titled "The Ugly Family".
