Project Aims & Objectives

Aims

The major aim of the research is to develop predictive model which uses the available data gathered from different applications and databases for analysing and understanding the users of educational institutes' behaviours. This predictive model helps in facilitating the decision making process of the educational institute. The main goal of this research paper is to study and analyse the current utilization of latest technology in higher education institutes in Saudi Arabia. Multiple solutions and recommendations will be given based on the analysis results. The aim of these technologies is to get the most benefits of available data in enhancing the process of decision-making.

Objectives

The objective of this research is to carry out in depth research about educational data mining and its needs, benefits and importance for universities. The research aims to emphasize the importance of processing the data which is stocked up in databases of institutes in order to analyse students' behaviour. The goal of this research is showing the need of the technique in generating distillation of data for human judgment to improve decision-making. This research provides mining tools or models for predictions and estimations. It aims to create suitable relationship mining among different educational and information applications and unify the data gathered from all applications used in the organization to make one source of useful information.

This project will evaluate the current data governance techniques that are used in higher educational institutes in Saudi Arabia. Its objective is to find out are the solutions for getting the maximum use of the available data for enhancing the decision-making process. One of its objectives also includes the finding out the most suitable data mining techniques for higher educational institutes.

Project Outline

Higher educational institutes are the central points of research and development. They act in a competitive environment in order to accumulate, generate and share knowledge (Bresfelean, 2008, p. 1). This research paper carries out an in depth study for mining the educational data and information collected from higher educational institutes in Saudi Arabia. Data mining is a technique in which all the data collected through different applications, events registrations and other databases can be strategically processed to enhance the decision making process (Luan, 2004, p. 2). Data mining has found applications in various fields and businesses. This study focuses on the implementation of the technique in universities. Tools of data mining prove to be beneficial for improving the system of higher educational institutes by facilitating the students with various things. It proves to be beneficial for educators, students and academics responsible. Data mining has found several applications in educational institutes. It helps in making students and teachers perform better, predicting the grades and results of students, identifying the patterns and choices of students, and helping the administrators to improve the systems accordingly.
