The idea of evolution, more specifically evolution by natural selection, or movements and ideas related to transmutation of species is considered as Darwinism. The term now refers to ideas because of the development of modern evolution theory. Darwin main contribution to the concept of evolution is his idea of natural selection, which acts to protect and gather slight beneficial genetic mutations. The concept revolves around specie developing an advantage, like growing wings, and passing the advantage to their offspring.
