About the Author

Dante Alighieri was the a nobleman's son originating in Florence, Italy. His early education took place in Florence, while later he went to the University of Bologna. In 1302 he was exiled due to political reasons from Florence, after which he started his Divine Comedy.

History, mythology, politics, religious leaders and other prominent people from literature and his personal life make an appearance in the Divine Comedy. Even Beatrice also has a place in it.
