This paper aims to create a curriculum map on the history subject for a specific age group of students, while explaining different dynamics of the curriculum map. Curriculum mapping is a procedure for reviewing the operational curriculum as it is entered into an electronic database at any education setting. In relation to the requirement of the assignment, a curriculum map has been devised following with a discussion upon its value, how it can be used in teaching the subject and what modification can increase the effectiveness of the subject.

Value of Curriculum Map

The curriculum map has been designed in accordance with the need for 13 years students, which will help them learning one of the most important phases of history. The curriculum map hold great value in teaching the history for the students, which will help them better understand the course of history which has changed the world completely. First of all, in Autumn 1 the curriculum map will introduce students to Civil rights movement regarding immigration, Indian Unions and Blacks in United States. The Autumn 2 will then pursue a sequence in similar context, covering later period. In Spring 1 and 2, the course of history will explain turning points of World War II and Civil rights covering the time period of 1942 to 1980.

The value of this course will help students understand the present structure of United States of America its founding policies and its constitution. Indians, immigration, Blacks, World War II and Civil rights all are important factor in the history of United States, and the curriculum designed will help students understand this entire phenomenon. The curriculum will not only introduce the students to the major shift in history, but the role played by United States in changing the world landscape (Jacobs, 2004).
