Introduction

Procter & Gamble (P & G) is a multinational corporation with its base in Cincinnati, Ohio in the United States. Procter & Gamble manufactures over 300 brands of consumer products, including Ariel (laundry detergent), Crest, Pampers, Duracell, Tide, Pantene, Fairy, Head & Shoulders, Old Spice, Gillette (which it acquired on 2005), Pringles and many more. The company was founded in 1837 by William Procter and James Gamble, immigrants from England and from Ireland who settled in Cincinnati and started out in business together producing soaps and candles. Throughout the twentieth century, Procter & Gamble continued to prosper. The company has operations in other countries, both in terms of manufacturing that products sale. The company has become an international company. In addition, a number of new products and brand names were introduced later (Frost, 1991).

Culture is significant because it is an array of powerful forces, hidden and often unconscious that governs the behavior of individuals, our behavior as a group, methods of perception and understanding, thought patterns and values. Organizational culture of P&G is particularly important therefore that cultural elements that determines strategy, goals and behaviors. Values and patterns of thought leaders and senior executives are determined to some extent by their cultural background and experienced by shared experiences. To make organizations more efficient and effective, the culture plays a vital role in vivo organization (Tierney, 2007).

Every situation, in which the group has enough common experience, begins to form culture. It is possible to find a culture in small groups, families and ordered work. Culture at P&HG occurs at the level of departments, functional groups, and organizational units that have a core of occupational common and shared experience. Culture is at the entire organization if there is enough history. It also exists at the level of entire branches from. Culture at P&G also exists at the level of regions and countries due to the existence of a common language, background common ethnicity, religion and shared common experiences (Alvesson, 2002).
