Introduction

The case study is related to the Children Support Agency. It is a national charity organization of United Kingdom. This agency provides care to the young aged people who need an added and extra support in order to assist them in living their lives efficiently and effectively. The CSA encompasses four main areas in which they operate. These areas include family support, housing, tackling crimes and training and education. For instance, the agency helps in managing the projects in order to provide affordable and safe housing and accommodation for such young people who are homeless. Furthermore, they are also involved in running the project which is from North London so as to assist in tackling knife crimes. In addition, the agency manages programs of IT training for young people who have been involved in crimes previously.

The head office of Children Support Agency is situated in central London. They have been shifted in central London recently. Previously, they were operating their two offices in London and in Brighton. Nationally, Children Support Agency is involved in running its 60 different projects, 15 tackling crime projects, 15 family support projects, 10 housing projects and 20 training and education projects. In order to manage these projects effectively and efficiently, CSA has split into three geographical locations including South West, South East and Northern regions. Regional director manages each of the regions and administrative team supports the regional director of CSA. The regional director is not only managing the current projects rather he has also been considered as accountable to develop new projects, identify project deliverables, sort out contracts with the funding bodies and so on.

The present information systems provision in the head office of CSA mostly supports all the economic and financial requirements of their agency. The department of finance operates the payroll system which is off-the-shelf. Furthermore, it also uses small customized system of funding which helps in recording information related to the funds which they receive from the internal projects and outside sources. Sebastian LeFevre contracted recently with CSA who is an information systems consultant so as to support in the development and analysis of their information needs. The consultant reviewed the current information systems in CSA. He observed that there is a lack of awareness corresponding to the secure and protected data storage. In addition, he revealed that there is the absence of a Data Controller inside the agency. Moreover, he also found that there was a lack of ethical awareness and staff professionalism corresponding to the dissemination and collection of data inside the agency. Lastly, the consultant found that there is the presence of such culture within the organization which lacks in fostering the deployment of information technology as a project support. In order to enhance the organizational operations of CSA, the consultant proposed the deployment of Agile Method to the CEO of CSA.
