Critique Number 1

The first and the most important point that is mentioned in this paper is that the student has started the paper with a direct quote of Erikson. This sets the perfect tune for the rest of the discussion. After mentioning the quote of Erikson the student jumped suddenly to another scholar David Hume. Although the quote that is mentioned in the paper of David Hume is related but adding another writer is not required when the paper is especially meant to include Erikson's work on the topic. After that, the student has proposed the three solutions to the problem of evil. The three solutions that are mentioned in the paper are quite simple and easy to understand. After that the main portion of the paper comes that is talking about the solutions from the perspective of Erikson.

While discussing the response of Erikson about the proposed solutions there is more concern shown towards the main topic of the solution. This means that for instance, if the first proposed solution is about finitism then the concept of finitism is discussed from the perspective of Erikson's ideas. In this way, there is more focus on the idea that is presented through solution and less focus on how these proposed solutions can help in eliminating evil. The major portion of the paper talks about the ideas of the proposed solution such as what this idea is all about and what opinion Erikson holds about the idea. It is only in the end of the paper in one or two lines it is discussed how these proposed solutions can help in dealing with evil. Moreover, there is no personal opinion in the whole response.
