Introduction to Article

This assignment is based on presenting a comprehensive critique on one of the articles, providing a special analysis of the research methodology utilized. For this purpose we have chosen the article “Unlocking the Black Box: Exploring the Link between High-Performance Work Systems and Performance” from the Journal of Applied Psychology, written by Jake Messersmith, Pankaj Patel and David Lepak.

The assignment would make a criticism of the article with references to the method of primary research incorporated in the work, presenting an overview of the author's approach towards writing and analysing the theme. In the end we would also justify our opinion, stating the strengths and weaknesses of the research undertaken in the article. In this article, the role and efficacy of individual-level attitudinal factors are discussed within the Welsh public employees' sector. The main viewpoint of the article is that attitudinal behaviours create a positive impact on organisational citizenship, making them a very important concern for the entire organization. The major concern is the review of high-Performance Work Systems which are thoroughly analyzed within the article.
