'The nursing contribution to chronic disease management: A case of public expectation? Qualitative findings from a multiple case study design in England and Wales'

Introduction

Altering the supply of care for persons with long term conditions needs to understand regarding how policies of the health care in England and chronological outlines of delivery of service brought about various models for the management of chronic diseases. Also, in this modification, it is necessary to examine and review the models that have become known to present base of an extra comprehensive verification for making decisions and superior care for the patients in future. Nurses have provided, and carry on formulating, an outstanding involvement to the chronic disease management.

Purpose of Study

The purpose of the study was comprehensible, as it was to draw round how positively the nurses contribute to the management of chronic diseases, and to find out the derivation, procedure, and the results of purposeful models of chronic disease management. The question for the planned research was stated quite clearly. There is a necessity of the research if the nurses are heading for expecting to execute an extra energetic and dynamic responsibility in the management of chronic disease, and thus, require having faith and recognition and appraisal by the patients and other professionals of health care both.

Analysis of Method(s) Used and Theoretical Connections

For this research study, the PEARL project intended to find out, recognise, and differentiate the basis, procedures and the results of the models of management for chronic diseases and the contributions of nurses to these models. To carry out this study, semi-structured interviews and focus groups were used. It employs open-ended queries, few recommended by the investigator, and some take place unsurprisingly in the duration of the interview. On the other hand focus groups involve controlled conversations with a chosen cluster of persons to gather data regarding their opinions and evidences of a subject.

Analysis of Sampling

In order to obtain the samples, websites focused on the UK practise and the national consensus conferences on the contribution of nurses on the chronic disease management models were searched. Table of “Case Study Sites” presents some additional details. Sampling was not in fact carried out awaiting redundancy of the data achieved- just 6 younger adult/children participated in focus groups.

Data Collection

The context of the study was not adequate for recognising the complete image. It was not amply developed to present methodological inflexibility in the analysis of qualitative data.

Audibility

For this research study, NVivo software has been utilised to code transcriptions by means of research team members. Also, external researchers were employed to cross check code transcriptions to assist with reliability.

Ethical Considerations

In addition to obtaining a signed consent form prior to conducting the survey; the researcher has taken steps to ensure that “genuine informed consent” has been provided by the participants. To accomplish this objective, information regarding the nature of the study has been provided before conducting the interview. Additionally, the respondents had been informed that a debriefing session ...
