Critical Thinking: Distinguishing between Inferences and Assumptions: Article Summary
Introduction
In the article I choose Critical Thinking: Distinguishing between Inferences and Assumptions, written by Elder and Paul. The authors spotlight on two elements of reasoning, inference along with assumption. The authors define an assumption as "something that we take for granted or presuppose" and defined an inference as "a step in the mind, by which one concludes something to be true in the light of something else being true.
I will critique this article for the following elements: perception, assumption, emotion, language, argument, fallacy, logic and issue / problem resolution.
