Abstract

In this study we try to explore the purpose and ways of conducting the critical review of the research methods and a research study in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on social research methods. For fulfilling the purpose of this assignment a study is selected and then this study is reviewed in a critically. The study is reviewed for the presence of main elements that a research report is supposed to have. The paper presents the critical analysis of the selected study in a systematic way.

Critical Review of the Research Study

Introduction

In today's era, where we live faces challenges of immense and cut throat competition. This is because of the rapid and frequent technological updates. This frequent technological advancement and updates enables organizations and individuals to get competitive advantage and to move ahead of the competitors. In this process of getting competitive advantage and to make the organization technological updated and to acquire the latest devised work processes and methodologies the research and its implications play an integral part. This is one of the reasons why the field of research has shown a tremendous development over the period of time. Performing the process of research is not enough one should also know how to use and critically analyze the research process for the maximum and proper usage of the research process. Critical analysis of the research studies enables organizations and individual to use the available information through research in the best possible way. For this reason educational institutes encourage students to perform the process of critical analyze the research studies so that they can develop the skills to perform that process of critical analysis and apply the extracted knowledge. The aim and objective of this paper is to conduct the process of analysis of the research study. To fulfill this purpose a research study is selected and then it is critically analyzed. The following part of the paper discusses the systematic analysis of the research study.

The research study that is selected for this paper belongs to the field of social research and marketing. The study is performed by two researchers Sonyaa Grier and Rohit Deshpande. The title of the study is “Social Dimensions of Consumer Distinctiveness: The Influence of Social Status on Group Identity and Advertising Persuasion”. This study was published in Journal of Marketing Research in the year of 2001.

Summary of the Research

This part of the paper presents the main purpose of the selected research study in a summarized way. Presentation of the content of the research is important because it would lend a hand in understanding the critical analysis of the research.

Problem Statement of the Research Study
