Eastern European Immigrants: A Critical Review

Background

It is estimated that in the time period between 2004 and 2010 it is said that nearly 1.5 million people migrated from the Eastern Europe to the country of United Kingdom. These 1.5 million people actually formed the 40 percent of the foreign employees over that particular time period. The statistics also reveals this that nearly 7000.000 of these people stayed, with almost half of a million people coming from the country of Poland. The study which came from the ONS evaluated the reasons which actually which the recession had on the immigrants who were largely from the A-8 countries. These A-8 countries were the eight countries that became the part of the European Union in the year of 2004. The study concluded that though the number of the migrants was falling but still the migration rate touches sky high numbers. It was also found that from the year of January 2008 till June 2010 almost 316,720 migrants from the Eastern Europe migrated to the United Kingdom. This shows that still there is a huge number of immigrant workers coming to a country in that time period when the rate of unemployment even among the BRITIANS is also increasing rapidly.

Introduction

The word migration actually means the voluntary or forced movement of the people from one place to another place. The term immigration has a more specific meaning. Immigration refers to the worldwide movement of people which leads to enduring settlement of the migrants in their intended country of settlement.
