CHAPTER 01: INTRODUCTION
Background of the Research
There are numerous factors that will shape up the working conditions in the next fifteen years, ranging from technology advancement, demographic trends, and the practice of economic globalization (Karoly and Panis, 2004, pp.1). It can be argued that globalization is leaving a strong impact upon the employment systems leading towards contradictory opinions in the world reliant on an individual's perspective.. It has been defined as a set of complex procedures including biased and unbiased magnitudes and a lengthy uneven sequence that connects the world together (Hytrek and Zentgraf, 2008, pp. 5).
However, providing adequate education and training to the workforce can help in providing solution. It can be argued that the future workforce will be focused towards becoming more skilled, which in turn, would let the societies ensure adequate education and training of their workforce (Yates, 2003, pp.91).
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this study is to critically evaluate the value of induction training from the perception of employees. The researcher will focus on the perceptions of employees towards the training programs attended by them in the organisation. There is very little research on the induction training programs evaluation.
Rationale of the Proposed Study
The study will be rational for offering two contributions. The first benefit offered by the study will be the qualitative results that will help in understanding the fact that more adequate training is required for the workforce in the United Kingdom, in order to prepare the employees for a better future at their respective jobs. The second benefit will be towards the organisation where the employees in the proposed study are employed. The valuable feedback of employees on the effectiveness, value and quality of the induction training program will enable the organisation and other stakeholders to better train the employees for future.
Aims and Objectives
The main aim of this study is to strive to understand the perceptions of employees for the induction training program of their organisation. Furthermore, the research objectives of the study are as follows:
A critical examination of the literature on the key challenges of induction training process in organizations.
Explore if there is a relationship between induction training and employees' views on the value of induction training based on a number of variables (job performance, job role integration, productivity, organizational culture, etc).
Present findings and make recommendations
Research Questions
The proposed research work will cover the following questions:
What is the value of induction training to/on employees?
What are employees' perceptions of the value of induction training based on a number of variables such as job role integration, job performance, productivity, organizational culture, etc?
Outline of the Study
The dissertation will contain five chapters, in which, the first chapter will provide a detailed introduction of the study along with the background, purpose and significance of the ...
