RFID has taken over the conventional technique of barcodes. It does not require any line of the path, and it can detect objects in far fields and near fields depending on the use. The interrogator acts as a receiver and transmitter which sends and receives radio signals to and from the destination object. The destination object can be powered actively and passively depending upon the use.
