History of punishment dates back to the origin of various civilizations. The former colonial criminal edicts were an inquisitive blend of English barbarity, religion, and pragmatism. Ever since the beginning of the world people have devised ways to punish individuals who commit offensive and intolerable acts. However in spite of the development in judicial system, laws and advancements in criminology the crime rate has been an ever escalating phenomena. Increasing crime rate within a society is clear signal for the change in economic and moral definitions of the society.
