JCOPE (Joint Commission on Public Ethics) is a unit independent of the measures with a large surveillance Government of the State of New York. The Commission has strong enforcement powers, to investigate violations of the law and financial disclosure requirements for all elected officials and their employees in the executive and legislative branches. JCOPE has also extended its powers to monitor lobbyists, because of new rules extensive disclosure and a broader definition of lobbying. Any potential violation of federal or state laws will be forwarded to the Attorney appropriate action. JCOPE was created as part of all historical measures of reform on Governor Cuomo's ethics, adopted earlier this year to address the major gaps ethics system state and restore public confidence in government.
