Criminal Behaviour and Criminology

Introduction

Traditional studies of criminology and criminal behaviour claim that criminal actions are individual concerns. A person responsible of criminal actions satisfies his own needs and interest through such actions. It is widely discussed that criminal actions are also psychological barriers of an individual, which drives a person to conduct unlawful acts. There may be a number of reasons behind such actions, some actions backed by financial crises and, while others are retribution for societal and social injustices that are prevalent in our societies, and experienced by its members. Apart from an individual, immediate concern, there are a number of influential factors that lead a particular involvement in criminal behaviours. Criminal behaviours and actions are not justified by law, no matter what the circumstances are. In this paper, we will consider different perspective of criminal behaviours and identify the reason behind such actions. We will relate our understanding with recent riots of England in August, considering different criminological perspectives.Criminal Behaviour and its Causes: How much the choice of an individual is responsible?

The meaning of the term "criminal conduct" extends from the considered simple societies, the criminal law creates the picture of divine will and is by the human will, independently, to the idea that criminal law is merely an instrument through which the ruling class justify their actions. The question of why a person commits a crime will also be answered quite differently. One extremist view says, man chooses immoral and criminal behaviour based on his own free will. He is, therefore, fully responsible for his actions, the man calling himself the devil. The other extreme view sees the criminals, the more or less helpless victims of biological, psychological or social constraints that are beyond his control.

Traditional explanations go from the individual and personality structures as the fundamental factors for criminal behaviour. Morally reasoned explanations put out the "bad" qualities such as greed, envy, corruption, revenge and claim that the individual spend their own free will to such feelings, and the man choose the crime initiative. But at the same time it is observed that crimes committed by mentally ill, cannot be blamed for their actions. This experience has been considered in the modern legal systems, pathological disorders of the mind, mental deficiency, awareness defective or special mental pervert reduce the debt capacity or close them out completely. Among the melancholic, mental disorders are brain disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, depression, neurosis, hysteria and other notable psychopathologies.

The modern crime theories are based more on statistics than on traditional claims about causal relationships. For example, it was found that residents of poorer neighbourhoods commit relatively frequent assaults and burglaries.Environmental and Class influence on Crimes

Not all crimes can be justified by adverse socioeconomic circumstances. Economic crimes such as fraud misappropriation and tax evasion are increasing more and more recently, the perpetrators are often socially respected individuals with prominent status. Murders take place on the grounds of sentimental degeneracy or jealousy, both the cities and the countryside. The same applies to property damage, driving in a drunken state, forgery and fraud.
