Crime Prevention

Introduction

This paper has discussed the prevention program from the crime. This paper firstly describe that what is law and how programs like prevention from criminals can make its contribution in the criminal justice as a whole. Moreover this paper has also purposed some strategies to overcome the crime; the recommendations are also purposed in this paper for the crime prevention program. This paper has described the jurisdiction of three cities which are New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. The reason of selecting these three cities is that these countries are similar in population size. The SARA model and the crime Analysis triangle have been used to analyze the crime. The impact of the crime prevention program on the social justice is also highlighted in this paper. This paper aims to address crime prevention programs and the role crime prevention plays in the overall criminal justice system (Young et al, 2011).

Jurisdiction & Portion of Criminal Justice System

Jurisdiction can be defined as an authority or legal authority in a certain city, state or country. In United States of America the jurisdiction of every state is independent. The idea of the jurisdiction is to empower the law in the state; each person living in the state has to follow its jurisdiction.

The criminal justice system (CJS) is basically a bundle of agencies and their processes which has been established or made by the state authorities or governments the aim of the CJS is to control crime and make sure the implementation of the law. Moreover the offenders and those people who violate the law are penalized to violate the law. The CJS came under the jurisdiction of the current state, city or country. The state takes care of the CJS when any criminal activity is conducted in the boundaries of a particular state and the federal CJS system intervenes when the criminal activity is conducted on the property of a federal government and when the criminal activity is conducted in more than one state. In United State of America the CJS consist of five factors which are: courts, corrections, prosecution, defense attorney and law enforcement. The law enforcement agencies take notice and reports about the crime that has happened in their areas (Gonzales, 2011). The officers of the law enforcement agencies investigate the crime and arrest the criminals. When the criminal or the offender is arrested and showed up in courts then the process of prosecution starts. The attorney of the state or the prosecutors uses the investigation report provided to them by the law enforcement agencies to represent their case in front of the courts. The offender is also provided a chance to challenge the case or to defend him or herself in the courts. Defense attorney is provided the chance to defend his or her client by providing the evidence.
