Many incidents have occurred over time that has fuelled the debate over the increasing rate of crimes. There are various circumstances that lead to a crime. The main reasons that may provoke a person to commit a crime are characterized by unemployment, poverty, less education, being target of discrimination and unstable family background. However, crime has become a free will product these days. People found guilty usually commit the crime on their free will.

Dunham, B. (2008, p.499) explains in his book 'Introduction to Law' that crime is mainly categorized in two parts. The first category is Felony. It refers to those crimes, which are serious in nature and the guilty person is punished by either imprisonment of more than one year or death penalty. The second category is misdemeanour.
