Introduction

HIV is one of the most dangerous and lethal viruses present in nature. The virus has no cure, and the only condition is prevention of disease. HIV infection leads to the development of AIDS. With the rapid change in the environment, there has been a drastic increase in the incidence and prevalence of HIV and AIDS. The major cause is the lifestyle changes. Amongst these lifestyles, men sex with men, bisexuals, unsafe/ unprotected sex in youngsters, black Hispanic population and needle drug users are most commonly encountered. It is essential to educate these individuals, by taking the help of professionals.

Human immune-deficiency virus, or HIV, is a blood borne virus belonging to the lentivirus family. The virus is spread through the body fluids, and till present, has no cure. The most common route of transmission in the United States is the unsafe sex and needle drug use.

The awareness campaign

It is of concern that the population, specially the youngsters, should be educated so that they can take the necessary measures in order to save themselves from the disease (CDC fact sheet, 2012). Being a lethal disease, most of the people still have brief knowledge regarding the spread of the virus. Once infected, it is impossible to cure the virus completely, so, it is necessary that it should be prevented rather than cured.It is of concern that the population must be aware of the course of infection and the ways through which it can be prevented.
