In recent parts, Criminal courts are under extreme criticism as they have failed to provide justice and adequately solve various issues. There are several administrative problems associated with the court that needs to be solved in order to improve the overall process. There have been several cases, when non violent offenders are punished for a crime they never committed. Many decisions are influenced by the political pressures that affect the overall rulings of the case.

The problems arise due to lack of resources to deal with the overcrowded prison system. Sometimes judges and other staff associated with the court have to carry out extended work, which they alone cannot do it accordingly.

Flaws in the Criminal Justice System

The court has failed to distinguish criminal people with mentally ill people. Many people, having mental illness, alcohol addiction are often found in prison without any particular reason. They must be sent to mental hospitals than prisons to solve the issue. The prison system has many problems due to lack of resources. People and administration staff are not properly trained and the system lacks resources to rehabilitate prisoners and educate them. There are no proper health services for the patients, which often creates problems for the patients (Beermann, 2010).

Gangs

Many studies show that Gangs are the major cause of problems and 80% of the crimes are committed by people part of these Gangs. The legal system has failed to address this issue and has failed to control the development of Gangs. The system fails to put these gangs in prison, as a result they get stronger and stronger. As a result, crimes are increasing day by day.

Racial Injustices in the Criminal Justice System

In America, the issue of racial discrimination has been very severe in the recent years as African Americans have failed to achieve to get their due rights in the country. They are not treated on equal basis, and are often deprived off many facilities. Even in cases involving criminal justice there are mishaps in the system creating severe problems.
