Introduction

This paper intends to discuss the underlying role of counselling. Counselling is one of the most important professions that prevail within the society of United Kingdom. The basic purpose of counselling is to assist professionals in relation with their different issues. The most prominent issues counsellors tend to deal with are the issues of diversity and equality. My personal experience of counselling along with the history and evaluation critique of the significance of the profession of counselling as a whole will be discussed. This paper will result in the demonstration of understanding the important social contexts for which counselling is practiced and the underlying benefits it provides to the professionals dealing with several issues. The purpose of this paper is to make the reader aware about the importance of counselling in order to solve the issues of diversity and equality.

Discussion

Counselling basically provides different ideas to the professionals in order to deal with the issues they face. There are many types of counselling which are considerably important in today's society. The most important aspect of counselling is assumed to help people in dealing with the issues they face in relation to diversity and equality. Living in a society where people comes from different ethnic, religious, racial and social backgrounds; it becomes increasingly important for the professional to respect the diversity and issues of equality. Being related to the field of counselling; it becomes essentially important for me to become able to help or facilitate people to solve the issues they face in dealing with diverse people. There are different counselling therapies which are extensively utilized in order to make the people feel better about the problems they have (Honor et al 2012).

The role of counselling is essentially immense and undeniable. The counselling is assumed to be a 'helping profession.' The role of counselling within helping professions is associated with the counsellor being in the therapeutic relationship with the person he is engaged within the counselling process. The counsellors tend to inquire the clients within themselves in order to analyse what actual change they want within themselves. The helping professions are essentially important in today's time. The role of counselling is suggested to revolve within helping professions is that the counsellors tend to make people aware about their ability to help along with the significance of their help towards the individuals and the overall society (Lago, 2011).

My personal experiences with the field of counselling tend to reveal the most important aspects of the field of helping professions. In my opinion, counselling itself is a helping profession making people better aware of the capabilities they possess and the inner satisfaction they can achieve by getting involved within the helping professions. My personal experiences with the counsellors make me capable of claiming that counsellors are essentially important in making the society move towards a positive and a better side.
