Counseling through Psychoanalytic Framework

Abstract

In the given case, Helen is observed to be having main problem of low self-esteem and self-confidence. With her family and husband not supporting in her ambitions, she is disconnecting with all hopes of making career in writing. In order to do her counseling psychoanalytic framework would be used. Psychoanalytic framework is a therapeutic process based on psychoanalytic theories and to help us solve our psychological problems through an increased understanding of our inner world. Painful and difficult experiences of the past can affect how we behave and interact in the present. This occurs even if the link between present and the past is not clear. Psychoanalytic framework provides a safe and confidential place to discuss our emotional difficulties and their causes.

This paper focuses on the case regarding Helen and her problem. The framework based on therapeutic process has been used in order to counsel the problem.

Presenting Concerns

In this paper, I consider myself as a straightforward counselor, and I have absolute faith in clients for speaking the things which they want to change by counseling, eventually leading to the key determining the problem. I also believe that clients know about the frequency of treatment and that for how long they will need it. My primary objective in counseling Helen would be to provide a supportive environment to her so that she can sort out her problems and reach the stage of self actualization and self fulfillment.

Case Conceptualization

Psychoanalytic framework offers no quick fixes, is a gradual process of understanding our inner world and the relationships we have with others.
