Career counseling is very similar to other forms of the counseling in which counselors guide people in their careers. All types of counseling has one thing in common which is that all the counselors are the practitioners are helping and giving advice to others in their careers. The main focus of the career counseling is on the career development, career exploration and issue related to the career of an individual. Theoretically the counselors guide the individuals to select and peruse their career and help them when they are facing difficulties in their careers. People usually select people by analyzing their own competencies and the money that they can earn from that particular career, whereas the counselors suggest that they should choose the career of their interest (Palade & Constantin, 2012). They believe that an individual should select that career which they enjoy. One should enjoy his or her job.

Cognitive career counseling is basically a methodology which is used by many counselor practitioners to assist their clients to modify their (VIBes) Vocational Irrational Beliefs, it will certainly help their clients to enhance and achieve their personal as well as career goals even in the bad economic situation. The social cognitive career theory (SCCT) is considered as the personal intentions of an individual to enhance the career behavior of him or her. The basic assumption of this behavior is based on some parameters such as cognitive, environmental and personal behavior of a person (McMahon & Watson, 2012). Generally people select the career by the social cognitive career because the individuals are interrelated to some above mentioned factors like environment and the self behavior of the person; people are inspired from their culture and want to select careers as per the environment demand and that career which is valued by the environment.

The substance abuse counselors face many issues in dealing with the clients who are addictive to the substance abuse or addictions. The substance abuse counselors usually face the challenges of lack of personal willingness and most of the times they face resistance from the clients. Another challenge that a substance abuse counselors could face is the resistance from the client because many substance abuse people are not open to the environment. In abuse substance counseling the counselor faces the issues like the individuals who are addictive to the drugs lies and hide the truth from the counselors. The counselors have to develop the understanding and they should make the friendly environment with their clients so that they can openly communicate and follow the advice of the counselor.
