Introduction

Given the following situation, if I was a director of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision I will do the following.

Probation is ordered by a judge as an alternative to incarceration and allows the convicted person to remain in the community. Parole is ordered by the Board of Paroles and Pardons and allows the convicted person to complete their sentence in the community (Auld, 2001). A pardon means that the individual is fully forgiven from all the legal consequences of his crime and his conviction. For example, it is possible for someone to receive a probation sentence without ever going to prison, typically for non-violent, first offenses. Someone who serves a prison sentence can be allowed by the State Board of Paroles and Pardons to serve that sentence in the community (Ayres, 2005). Provide strategic vision and tactical direction to directors, managers and supervisors in the effective development, implementation and attainment of the mission and goals of the department by: delegating and reviewing the management of work assignments, delivery of broad and comprehensive services and resources by the department and the appropriate budgets. These activities are designed to create and provide a broad comprehensive array of public policies and functional services to the citizens of Tarrant County and Criminal Courts which include community safety, preventative and rehabilitation programs, automated systems design/implementation, public relations or media communications, legal and regulatory compliance, and providing significant departmental support for various intergovernmental or multi-jurisdictional related activities.
