Leadership skills are essential for the leader in any organization to mould the corporate environment of the company. However, companies that are instable and are undergoing a turmoil need to be more careful about it. Although there are many traits that make up a principled leader, however, some notable ones have to be distinguished from the less notable ones. In my opinion, the most important quality that I must possess is to have excellent listening skills. Listening to the queries as well as the suggestions of the subordinates is important because this would develop trust with my team members. Moreover, it will also bring new ideas and techniques which can be implemented to bring improvements. Followed by the listening skills, a leader must also provide performance feedback to the employees. I believe that providing feedback is important for me as a leader because it tells the employee about his capabilities and areas of improvement. However, the way in which the feedback gets communicated should not be de-motivating because it can upgrade or degrade employee motivation, which further impacts his performance. I would therefore, opt for feedback communicating ways which serve as a source of motivation for employees working under me (Cantrell & Flick, 2009).
Julie Cobb was senior analysts, and she desired to move up because of which she has been showing leadership. She had become a respected expert in the organization and developed a strong team of employees who were loyal. Moreover, she also made training and job development a priority. Cobb was sensitive for her employees and served as a consensus builder. However, there were many other managers who made decisions that raised questions, but she followed the ethical standards and created a culture of integrity. She was aware of the ways in which she could attain the desired results; therefore, since the future of the company was at stake, Cobb was a wise option as she had strong leadership skills. This is because she had team-building skills and kept her employees motivated that got exceedingly required.

Individuals in the leadership positions need to have leadership skills. However, I would partially promote an individual into a key leadership position who gets considered as a “people pleaser.” This is because a leader needs to know how to deal with the people and for this it is essential for him to understand the employees. Moreover, in such positions, the leaders also need to care to make them work according to what they want to attain the mission of the organization. During this, it should be ensured that the leader does not support discrimination. In my opinion, there is no harm in becoming people pleaser, however, the leader should not favor some people instead of the others whom he does not like for any reason.
