Introduction

Nursing is a noble profession. Nurses being the first line responders are the basic pillars of the healthcare system. These nurses are mandatory for the proper working of every health care sector. It is important that nurses should get extensive education and training to give the best health care.

To establish an error free nursing department is also the duty of an educated certified nurse. This system is necessary to deliver maximum health care benefits to patients. With the increased workload resulting from the current shortage in the nursing staff, it has become necessary that more students should be influenced to accept the profession and serve the humanity.

Discussion

Nurses are the health care providers and educators. Their prime duty is to take care of the patient and provide him with maximum health care and safety. In my opinion; nursing profession is still not clearly understood by a vast majority. The two steps I want to take, once I become a graduated nurse are

Nursing errors are not uncommon in the health care settings. These errors can result in a negative patient care outcome, increasing the patient morbidity and mortality, and decreasing the reputation graph of the organization.

As American nursing association defines the nursing profession (2010), “The security, protection, optimization and streamlining of health and capacities, counteractive action of disease and damage, mitigation of enduring the finding and medicine of human reaction, and backing and advocacy being taken care of by people, families, groups, and populations”

By applying the principals as defined in the definition and by implementing the nursing code of ethics, nursing social policy statement (ANA, 2010), Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice (ANA, 2010), ...
