Recruitment remains an important challenge for Australia. The challenge is combined by a quickly aging workforce. The need to hold and increase the existing workforce is an immediate concern. Strategies such as recruiting international people have been used in an effort to deal with the deficit of experienced hands in Australia (Grey, 2008). However, the workforce is increasingly questioning the ethics of overseas recruitment and the effects of this on the origin country.

Issues such as the recruiting workforce crises mean that Australia is currently experiencing a shortage of experienced people. The shortages are especially critical in specialist areas including engineers, doctors, businessmen, etc. This in turn affects the quality of the work environment, because the acute need for extra nurses results in increased use of short-term agency staff.
