The selected articles were taken from renowned online liberaries, such as EBDCOhost, PROQUEST and PHOENIX. This particular chapter gives a direction to the whole research work as this provides a thorough understanding that how the previous research works has been conducted within the field. Here, some previously established research works will be thoroughly reviewed. Going through them and also illustrating some of the relevant knowledge of a few particular researches will become highly effective. Over the years, a series of valuable researches have been conducted within this particular area, which has seen a tremendous increase in the last decade. This is an important sector to be explored due to the fact that today the acknowledgement of the factors which tend to influence the consumer's behaviour ultimately impact the overall functioning and the productivity of the entire organizations and other businesses (Shaw, Hogg, Wilson & Shui, 2006, pp. 427 - 440).

The collection of data for literature review, which formed a major part of the present research study, was mainly done with the evaluation of various secondary sources. This was done by exploring a number of available sources. All of these sources were non human in nature; in addition, different mediums were used such as literature, books, journals, broadcast media and other eminent publications. The approach for reviewing the literature is appropriate as the secondary research is the genre of research that does not involve any kind of human subjects.

One of the criteria for incorporating only relevant information in the research study is the selection and use of only appropriate literature. For this purpose, only valid information was collected from multiple sources and databases such as private libraries, public libraries and other online libraries as well. For this purpose, the most authentic databases such as EBSCO, PROQUEST and PHEONIX were used in order to access and gather data to be reviewed for the present research study.

Theoretical Frameworks Applied in the Reviewed Studies

Many studies locate Fair Trade as an alternative in the global agro-food system (Renard, 1999), in the global market generally (Brown 1993 ; Leclair, 2002 ; Murray & Raynolds, 2000 ; Raynolds, 2000 ; Rice, 2001 ; Talbot, 2004) and in trying to determine the efficacy of alternative trade as a means for improving the lot of producers in the Third World (Fisher, 2001 ; Murray & Raynolds et al., 2003). Often the question whether Fair Trade helps to establish more direct links between producers and consumers and thereby acquires a de-alienating potential is raised.
