Analysis of the Essay

An analysis would be conducted about the topic having a title “The man I Killed” written by Tim O' Brien. The essay is based on the consequences of war to the individuals. The story of “The Man I Killed” was based on the actual story of O' Brien whose guilt fixed the position on the life of the victim. This is the reason why he had his presence as a protagonist and narrator in the story. He did make use by being first person to explain feelings related to the guilty and confusion. He tried to negotiate his feelings by operating in the fantasy that made him to imagine an entire life for his victim. It ranged from the childhood and also represented his family along with the feelings that he had about the war and Americans. The guilt that he had comprised of own pace after the repetition of certain actions. There were certain thoughts that had a relation with the victim proved to be helpful for the O' Brien in setting the suitable course of actions. During the same situation, he made an attempt to have a strong attention on the physical characteristics rather having it on his feelings.

Brian communicated the perspective of the story as a protagonist rather than being a narrator. He made an attempt to express and implicit the silence that surrounded his death in Vietnam which became evident after the death of Ted Lavender. After the occurrence of this incident, the two men known as Kiowa and Norman Bowker struggled in finding words to describe their perspective on tragedy. In the similar manner, O' Brien remembered the single sunlight factor during the death of Curt Lemon. This is the reason why in this story, “The Man I Killed”, O' Brien tried to adopt the specific strategy that pushed the other people to an extreme level where there was no insight because of the lack of feelings aspect. There was an element of the implicit contention when a focus was made on the other aspects of the death that included the sunlight, flowers on the road or the physical features of the O'Brien who got killed. He tried to find safety from the guilt.
