Consciousness

Introduction

Transpersonal psychology belongs to psychology that identifies and admits spirituality as a crucial aspect of the psyche of man and of the general method of things. It also honors the whole field of human experience, such as different stages and realms of the human psyche that become visible in non-usual levels of consciousness. Here, are some examples, knowledge and explanation from meditation & other forms of systematic practice of spirituality, spontaneous mystical ecstasy, psychedelic therapy, psycho spiritual catastrophe ("spiritual emergencies"), the art of hypnosis, experiential case psychotherapy, and situations on near-death (NDE). Particularly, these are the facts and sequences which include psychological bereavement and regeneration; divine light experiences; cosmic consciousness; union with new people mystically & the whole universe; encounters with strange beings; watching mythological empires; karmic incidents; different forms of extrasensory perception (ESP), and so on.

Discussion

The existence of transpersonal psychology has been witnessed for more than a quarter of the century and has been enjoying its increasing influence and popularity. From last 15 years, the transpersonal course has extended into more scientific classes, including (quantum-relati-vistic physics, art, anthropology, biology, medicine, ecology, Politics) and many more. In fact, Association for Transpersonal Psychology (ATP) arranges yearly meetings in Asilomar, California, together with the International Transpersonal Association sets up regularly in various parts of the world.

The crucial focus of the controversy regarding transpersonal psychology is the scenery of a wide spectrum of experiences that happen in different phases of non-usual states regarding consciousness, as well as death-rebirth experience, archetypal images, karmic phenomena, out from the body incidents, different episodes of ESP, and so on. The existence of these issues has been in the knowledge to psychiatrists and psychologists for many years. In the past, they were dismissed as pathological yields of our brain, as a symptom of mental disorder. The reason for this was given by the fact that they could not be able to clarify in the circumstances of traditional or theoretical frameworks of normal psychiatry. They thus were not seen to have any therapeutic or heuristic value. The main reason of concern for psychiatrists is to find effective means of suppressing them when they occur.

Too much study on informal states of consciousness has confirmed this state to be unsustainable. It exposes that these incidents are not random yields of brain pathology, but signify the facts that are natural and real signs of the deeper dynamics of human's psyche. Their existence of these things in the human psyche clearly designate that we have to change our concepts regarding the dimensions & nature of human consciousness and that our recent cartography of the human psyche has to be hugely extended. The conventional model of the thinking used in academics of psychiatry is restricted to postnatal biography and the individual unconsciousness as portrayed by Sigmund Freud. According to my new definition of unconsciousness, I found it essential to add two large Transbiographical domains; I name them as the perinatal & transpersonal realms.

This domain is derived from its characteristic name as people related to ...
