Introduction

In today's busy and demanding world, most families face increased level of stress, due to which they face several conflicts in their personal and professional life. All families need to make continuous effort to take care of need and wants of every member of the family and remove such conflicts. Several experts suggest various approaches of conjoint/family therapies to develop and maintain good relationships between family members. Family therapies are proposed by experts because they considered as a revolutionary model which understands psychological, intrapsychic issues, and relational phenomena (Ackerman, 1984). Family therapy is an effective way of understanding the cause of problem and it is an efficient way of intervention with people. In this paper we are going to critique two articles involving different therapy approaches. The purpose of this paper is to let readers know about the importance of family therapy and one most effective family therapy approach.

The first article we are going to analyze for this paper is named as Group Processes in Family Therapy: a psychoanalytic approach written by Sally Box in 1998. This article described a model of family therapy drawn on theories and experiences of psychoanalysis applied to groups and individuals. The author has suggested some concepts that help readers to understand and work with their family as a system (Box, 1998). The author has provided an example which describes the efforts to with immediate feelings of patient in the session in relations to the therapist and each other. Psychoanalytical family therapy uses traditional psychodynamic and psychoanalytic principles that illustrate inner conflicts. It is based on observations for a family in given culture.
