Conflict can either have positive and negative impacts on human beings, but it is generally regarded as inappropriate and thus different measures are taken to prevent conflict and ensure peacemaking. The conflict situation might arise as a result of fear, subjugation or force. There could be other secondary causes of conflict as well, including communication gap, personal differences, the differences between responsibilities and authorities, little or no cooperation and substandard performance. The peacemaking and conflict resolution involves four crucial steps: listening, questioning, clarifying and redirecting.

The steps, when carried out properly, not only eradicate conflict and resolve it but also assist in avoiding similar situation in the future. Whatever the nature of conflict might be, it must e listened to carefully in order to get the entire picture and find the best fit methods for resolving the issues.
