Introduction

Ups and downs are part of human moods where being sad reflects unpleasing experiments and misfortunes of life, while being happy shows represents sense of achievements. Depression can be seen as an explanation of human feeling of sadness but is not limited to sad mood. Mosby explains depression as an emotional condition that is not normal in nature and categorized by overstated feelings of sadness, misery, unhappiness, and hopelessness that are unsuitable where reality is not in proportion (Depression, 2002). In addition, depression can be presented in a broad range including affection, physiology, cognition, and behavioral expressions. If a child is depressed he or she may become aggressive and quickly lose control over his or her mood. However, when an adult oncology patient has depression he or she may have aches and pains that are frequent symptoms of depression in adults (Batmanqhelidi, 2005).

This suggests that depression in adolescent patient of oncology needs to be analyzed under multiple disciplines in order to better examine symptoms of such patients and determine any intervention for treatment. Cook et al. (2002) argues that depression has become an expensive as well as unbearable health condition that has affects whole society. In fact, if an adolescent's diagnosis suggests that he or she is suffering with cancer, the risk of depression is increased. In addition, this depression also involves not only family but also the friends of adolescent. This reflects a complex situation related to the concept of depression and advises to build a multidisciplinary analysis including nursing, medical, and psychological.
