Introduction

This assignment is based on Computer Networking. A computer network is a set of computers connected by communication links and connectivity solutions in a single system for exchanging messages and user access to software, technical, information and organizational resources of the network. Computer network is a collection of nodes (computers and network equipment) and their connecting branches (channels). Branch network is a path which connects the two adjacent nodes. Computers can be combined in different ways in network. The computer network is a collection of computers and devices connected to each other to share hardware and software resources. There are different types of networks according to their size, speed, data transfer as well as their extent (Hallberg, 2001).

Computer networks are usually divided into two categories: ad hoc networks (peer-to-peer network) and network-based server (server-based network). Peer networks are the most ordinary and the least expensive and are found in small organizations for example, in the development of small offices or home offices or small workgroups. On the other hand, the existence of computer networks allows the company to have doubled its database server, or any other vital information, so that in case of failure of the software, hardware, or physical destruction of the server, the information is not affected (Washer, 2002).

Implications of Computer Networking and its Types

Computer Networking is a logical and physical way of connecting computers, cables and other components which make up the network as a whole, it is called network topology. Topology describes the properties of networks that do not depend on their size. It does not consider the performance and operation of the objects, their types, the channel lengths, although the design of these factors is very important. Network Architecture is implemented in a network structure of the data that defines its topology, composition and rules of their communication devices on the network. Within network architecture, it addresses the information coding and transmission flow of messages, error checking and analysis of network operation in emergency situations, and the deterioration of characteristics. Computer network is a set of at least two interconnected computers and their peripherals. The idea behind the computer network is provide access to shared data (Kurose, 2010).
