Introduction

This paper intends to discuss two companies which have historically competed to maintain a significant share of the market place. The companies which I have selected for the purpose of discussion are Apple and Microsoft. The corporate cultures of both the companies will be analyzed in this paper. Also, at least three different ways in which unique culture has been benefitted by the competition of the other company will be explored. Speculations about how would each company would continue to thrive if its current corporate culture would need to change in the near future will be made. The purpose of this paper is to make the readers aware about the significance of corporate culture in big companies.

Corporate Cultures of Apple and Microsoft

The corporate culture of Apple and Microsoft is essentially important to discuss mainly because both the companies have significantly improving their market place with the passage of time. Starting off the discussion with the corporate culture of Apple, it remains extremely important to state that the corporate culture of Apple has made it able to become one of the highly successful companies founded in the 1970s. Essentially, Corporate culture is one thins which provides a sense of attachment and responsibility to the employees working for any company (Rothacher, 2004).

The corporate culture of Apple is basically more akin to a startup firm rather than a multinational corporation. This aspect of corporate culture within Apple provides all the employees with underlying enthusiasm to work hard and achieve success as it is prominent in startup firms. A reputation for the purpose of fostering excellence and to attract and retain the most talented people within the company is also an underlying factor of the corporate culture.
