Key Characteristics of Users

I have selected Adventist Health Care as a part of my assignment. It is a healthcare organizations based in Gaithersburg, MD.; it is a nonprofit organization that caters needs of the diversified patients. However, it provides proper wellness, and disease management services. As a matter of fact, the characteristics of the patients of Adventist Health Care depend on the types of its patient in terms of the services provided (Adventisthealthcare.com, 2013).

Shady Grove is one of the units of Adventist Health Care that seeks to cater the patients pregnant with cancer. This unit is a kind of itself that have experts who deal with such a dangerous disease. As a matter of fact, the Shade Grove of the Adventist Health Care understands the sensitiveness of the cancer patients and deal with them in a specialized way, in terms of their physical and emotional needs. Most of the cancer patients who seek treatment at these units have, breast, lung and thyroid cancer; however, there are other type of cancer patients as well.

Patients suffering from cardiac and vascular diseases are also the ones who get treatment at Adventist Health Care. These types of patients get treatment at Washington Adventist Hospital and Shady Grove Health Care, both of these units fall under the umbrella of Adventist health Care. Both of these centers provide patient focused services targeted at the patents that have cardiac related disease. Besides proper health management, it provides the surgical service as well ranging from minimal invasive surgery to open heart surgery and opening the block artery etc.

There are also patients who have complaints pertaining to the behavioral problems. However, the patients in this domain include the children, adolescents, adults and aged ones. As a matter of fact, different services are provided under the umbrella of behavioral treatment including, hospital based program, residential treatment, school programs, outpatient services and the community based programs.

Besides all these, patients who avail the services of Adventist Health care are of maternity, surgical services including the general surgery, and general health checkups. Adventists health care provides a broad range of services to different kinds of patients ranging from general to specialized care.

Competitive Environment and Course of Action

As a matter of fact, the health care organization does face acute competition due to availability of different service provider. However, some use price as a tool to attract the patients while for other quality remains the top most priority. Whatever the scenario is, the completion remains on full pelt. Competition, primarily, gives different opportunities to the health care provider to discover several ventures; however, at the same time it gives enough option of patients to choose the appropriate health service provider (Andrade et. al., 2012).
