Introduction

Employers and HR professionals alike put a lot of time, research, and energy into developing a strong and attractive employee compensation plan. Stacking benefits like profit sharing and team-based pay onto adequate compensation is commonly done, then that approach reviewed, researched, and refined over time.

Although every employee has their attention caught by the phrase “competitive compensation plan” in a job posting, this can all be boiled down to down to a truth. As they say in the military, what every person wants out of a compensation plan is “more money and more time off.”

Discussion and Analysis

The most essential communication takes place between compensation management and the other functions of the human resource program. For example the rate of pay for jobs and the recruitment of employees can increase or the limit of supply applicants. Many restaurants and fast-food chains need to change and increase their starting wages so that they can attract new job applicants to meet their requirement of staffing. If the pay rates gets high this will create a large applicant pool, this will help organizations to raise the standards of selection of their hiring and hire better qualified employees, which will eventually reduce the employee training costs.

Employee's Rights and Responsibilities

A worker's compensation absence shall not be charged against the employee's vacation or temporary disability leave (TDL) if a suitable work excuse provided by a MCO physician.

If an employee is off work due to a work-related injury without a suitable off-work statement from an MCO physician or if the temporary restrictions secondary to a work-related injury can be accommodated and the employee elects to remain off work, the employee shall use Vacation Leave for this absence. If the employee is not eligible for use Vacation Leave, or has insufficient accrued Vacation Leave, the absence will be consider as an unpaid and unauthorized absence and these absences may be subject to corrective action (Bojas, 34-78).

An employee may choose to utilize accrued vacation or temporary disability leave (TDL) when the worker's compensation pay is less than the employee's regular pay. This shall not exceed the regular compensation amount.

A period of absence under worker's compensation does not constitute a break in service.
