The Spartan Warrior

The Spartan warrior was a result of applying the laws of Lycurgus on a daily basis. The only concern of the Spartan warrior was how to express in the most correct way. The lifestyle of Spartan warrior is based on the current petty ideals and leads man to control himself and goes far beyond the apparent limits and cultivating a heroic lifestyle.

The training of Spartan warriors began in childhood and involved both boys and girls. The goal was to make the boys to become “invincible warriors” and girls to “good mother warriors”. At the age of 7 years, Spartan warriors undertook the education of children and special educators cultivated in the young Spartan first to indirect Heroic spirit, virtuous soul which resulted in a strong and healthy body that could cope with any difficulty. Moreover, art, music, games and group work nature, war dances and survival in the wild without any help, strafed a character with the main characteristics of bravery and self-sacrifice of Spartan warriors (Campbell, 52-94).

Results of this education were a deep love of the motherland to a point where the Spartan warrior did not hesitate to offer his life for the defense. Furthermore, the courage, sacrifice, bravery, strength, humility, courage, respect the gods by Spartan warriors were natural results of Spartan education. For that reason, it can be said that the character of Spartan warriors was similar with the human in general as they intend to save their mother land.
