Introduction
Filmmakers develop films based on the novels and books written by writers and authors. Hammett wrote a novel consisting of many detective stories with the title of “Maltese Falcon” in the year 1929. This novel was filmed many times, but Huston created a film version of the novel in 1941 that was much similar to the story created by Hammett. Similarly, Chandler wrote a novel with the name, “The Big Sleep”, which was filmed by Hawk containing similar as well as contrasting elements in relation to the written novel. This essay compares and contrasts both the created films with the novels generated by the writers. The filmmakers adapted the novels as per their storylines but made necessary changes to match the content with the audiences' requirements.

The detectives portrayed before Hammett's work were bright minded along with the criminals. However, the society was created kind and supportive (Luhr, 1995).
Hammett's portrayed detectives who were proletarians while previously, the detectives were from the noble class while the committed crimes were lethal and pointless. Hammett's work ...
