Comparing the Theme of Survival in the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and the Life of Pi by Yann Martel

Introduction

The story of Kite Runner takes place in Afghanistan, where the two children were born, but later moves to America in San Francisco, where he moved with Amir's father Baba. The narrator of the story is the same Amir. There are however both direct speech and direct speech free (Edwards). There are also many terms in Arabic which characterize the narrative, but the language by the way is clear and simple. The narrative does not follow the flow of time, because often the protagonist narrates his memories and emotions that past and present. In the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Amir is the protagonist of the novel, the narrator of the book. And 'fragile both physically and psychologically, is often defended by his friend Hassan. He is the son of a prominent businessman, educated and passionate reader. He does not like sports very unlike his father playing soccer. In his childhood trying to win the trust of the father, who showed him great affection, and who would like their child safer and brave (Sharmin).
