Introduction

Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder characterized by inability to interact socially, difficulty in the field of language to communicate or deal with symbolic games, and standard restrictive and repetitive behavior. The degree of impairment is variable intensity: ranges from milder, such as Asperger's syndrome (in which there is impairment of speech and intelligence) to severe forms in which the patient is unable to maintain any kind of interpersonal contact and carries aggressive behavior and mental retardation. Initial studies considered the result of disorder problematic family dynamics and psychological conditions changed something which proved unfounded. The current trend is to admit the existence of multiple causes for autism, among them genetic and biological factors.

This paper evaluates the two articles Automaticity of social behavior: Direct effects of trait construct and stereotype activation on action and Self and Social Identity, comparing them how these articles topics are related to autism.

Discussion

In the article “Automaticity of social behavior: Direct effects of trait construct and stereotype activation on action” according to Bargh (1996), exerting influence on behavior and thought, without awareness or conscious intention, and on the ordinary existence of the attitude entity, the attitudes are revealed to develop automatically stimulated (Bargh & et al.1996). To affect emotions and self-perception, on the existence of self-relevant motivations, the self-concept is proved to become automatically active. With the stereotype group, on the ordinary existence of associated physical structures, stereotypes become automatically active, and then make dispositional attributions about the personality of the actor and in terms of personality traits, categorize the behavior (Bargh & et al.1996).
