Introduction

Art is the most exquisite and expressive way of displaying emotions as well as love. It is also used as an artistic form of showing affection and display aesthetic skills of an artist in the most effective manner (Burnham, 2011). In this connection, the Denver art Museum is known across the world for its huge beautiful collection of art work that is located between Chicago and the West Coast. Therefore, the paper takes into account the two works of art collected from the Asian Art and European and American Art from the Denver Art collection. It presents the compare and contrast between the two selected art works which include “The Crucifixion” from European Art and “Shiva from Gupta Period” from Asian Art.

Comparison between “The Crucification” and “Shiva”

The two exquisite art collections from the Asian art and the Euroepan Art and American art are the religious paintings. In this context, the European Art work that has been selected for this comparison is the English painting of “The Crucification” about 1395 (Denver Art Museum, 2014). It portrays the alterpiece for the Roman Catholic Church and depicts the body of Jesus Christ nailed to the cross along with fainted body of Virgin Mary in the foreground and the beardless image of St. John who tries to reach out to help Jesus as an Evangelist. Besides, the painting also portrays the image of a fourteenth century fashionable Roman gentleman who stands at the right side of the Jesus while the painting depicts the minute details of the suffering of Jesus (Denver Art Museum, 2014).
