Introduction

This writing assignment aims to develop a leadership framework and strategy to solve the drug problem of the city. The city is being headed by the Mayor who is responsible for all the matters which are being taken place in the city.

Discussion

The Mayor of the city has to immediately set himself to address the issues which the city is facing. He should take all the stakeholders in the confidence and explain them that the media is just creating hype about our city. Our city is not violent; however, there are problems which we will able to resolve together. As the administrative of strategic authority the role of the Mayor is to encourage social development, wealth creation, improvement of the environment and economic development. The city is already prosperous and flourishing and the people of the city are living a happy life. The main problem of the city which is concerning everyone is the influx of narcotics and drugs from the border of the city. The mayor is capable of doing wide range of things because he has certain duties and powers and a common power of doing anything that can result in promoting the social and economic development and containment of the illegal drugs that are being smuggled into the city. In providing jobs to the people of the city, the Mayor is responsible for promoting equal opportunities for everyone.

Strategies for the existing city problems

The mayor of the city needs to develop policies and plans for eradication of the drug trafficking problem which is badly affecting the reputation of the city. He also has to address issues and effect improvement in the health facilities for the people of the city, economic regeneration and development, housing, culture, covering transport, development and planning. These particular plans fit mutually so that it helps in delivering the policies of the Mayor. Among them, these plans should be able in contributing towards social and economic development of the people of the city (Paoli, et.al, 2012).

Role of Mayor

The city Mayor has to take major initiatives on key issues of city which mainly includes drug trafficking, establishing colleges and universities, building new infrastructure for water, sanitation and sewerage. There are many issues that were focused by the Mayor of city which are related to making developments within the city so that it could benefit the people of the city. The Mayor has to strive hard in order to focus on making city greener and make the people realise this fact as well. He also wants the city to be recognized as the leader of the world by improving the quality and life standard of the people living in the city. The mayor needs to develop a broad vision firstly in order to address the main issue of the drug trafficking.
