Introduction

Social planning and community power are both interlinked concepts. Social planning is usually recognized as integral element in planning communities in an effective manner (Menzies, 1993). Social planners play an important role in planning a society and are members of staff in Local Government in Australia. The calling of city arrangement was conceived from a dream of the great city. Utopianism and radicalism stared of in the nineteenth century where its main purpose was to defeat the evils present in the industrial city. The city organizers had an aim of developing and constructing a city which is reordered with social and physical arrangements which further defeats the purpose of social structure and harmful environment of industrial capitalism. It was designed to hope that by doing this, all citizens would be able to gain the benefits of democracy, beauty and community, not through revolutionary implies but through the infringement of explanation for why.

Discussion

Social planners are very important to undertake social planning I n order to keep a society in the right direction and to gain community power and that will only happen if the community have a strong social planner. With the existence of strong social planners, social community can have a strong impact as social planners can advice on development and strategic assessment (Lander, 2010). They also try to address issues relating to social planning and affordability of houses and consultation for the community and its members. Nevertheless, they also ensure the social considerations and their inclusions. Social planners further try to increase awareness on various social issues in the community and tries to promote the connection between council community and the council departments. Different issues and areas are also benefitted by the presence of social planners which also include social issues and strategic approach towards it, development assessment and their social review. Nowadays, practitioners used for planning try to visualize their mission in a more humble way. Visionary leaders who used to think about the future had a concept that their views will be imposed on the urban population but this did not seem to be fulfilled. However, the notion that talks about the model that is identifiable of a good city meets disbelief. With the presence of succeeding century, the aim to create a good city seems to be difficult as it cannot maintain itself and keep itself in line with practical and intellectual onslaughts. “Both premises—of a unified vision of the good city and of a disinterested elite that could formulate and implement it—fell before attacks from across the ideological spectrum” (Fainstein, 1996). In crudest shape, individuals on the left argued that while masterminds on the right fought that any undertaking by the state to steer urban conclusions might constitute an intrusion on liberation and an impediment to effectiveness (Klosterman, 1985).
