Introduction

People dwell and societies exist in an organized formation of blocks. These blocks are considered as essential for the foundation of the societies and communities. People form the most basic layer of the foundation of the societies; they are the important and basic part of the community. Since the evolution of world and mankind, people have been striving and endeavouring to achieve the most success and survive in the world. Communities are associated with numerous other concepts such as good governance, legal system and provisions which the societies and its people are entitled for. Together with balance in between the responsibilities and rights of the citizens, the societal systems and communities move towards the achievement and attainment of goals and objectives (Williams, 2007, P.n.d).

Community Engagement

Since a long time, societies and governing people have been endeavouring to bring changes in the communities or societies. These developments are made mostly in the aspects of domination, authority or power; as well as development in economics, health and other communal issues. The development or modification in regard with these issues and matters have largely been related and recognized with the input or participation by the community and its people. Principally due to the wide reforms and efforts made by various aspects of the society, researchers, studies and other literary concepts have risen in relation to the participation of community in social works and other issues common and same to all the people of community (Wells et al. 2004, p.n.d).

Community participation is referred to as the process of collaboration or engagement of the people, groups of people and partners whose goals and objectives are common. The goal and objectives do not categorise as the only similar or common issues in collaboration; rather, even if the goals and objectives differ people might collaborate with each other and share interests for related goals and the pathways leading to similar objectives (Fulton & Winfield, 2011, P. 20).

Strategies for Community Engagement

Depending upon the diverse types or kinds of goals people might hold, the ways of community engagement and association might also differ and vary accordingly. People relate and associate in different ways for the attainment of their goals and objectives (Swainston & Summerbell 2008, P. 30). The approaches in community engagement might include the following:

Partnership and Network Building

Mobilization of Community

Coalition of the Community
