Introduction

This paper is based on community assessment of retired veterans in Louisville which is important to study as the information about the retired veterans and also the benefits for retired veterans of community should be known; moreover, the paper particularly focuses on the nursing practices of the community. Louisville is the largest city of the State of Kentucky and is located in northern Kentucky, along the Ohio River which forms the border with the neighboring state of Indiana. Louisville is the seat of Jefferson County and its suburbs extending to southern Indiana.

Discussion

The demographics of the retired veterans in Louisville are based on the Whites, Black, Asian, Native Americans and Others which shows that the in the community, there are various retired veterans resides which makes the community diverse. Besides it, the subsystems which are considered as the key factors while assessing a community include economics, education, politics and government, safety and transportation, health and social services, physical environment, communication and recreation. From the past studies, it is observed that all of these factors are encouraging in case of Louisville.

The educational policy, communication system, politics, physical environment, and safety and transportation are playing contributive role in providing benefits to the retired veterans in Louisville.
