Workshop to enhance parent's participation in their children's learning and development and communication skills and capabilities

Introduction

Anyone planning a workshop is endowed with big responsibilities, since it's a big job. This requires a lot of focus, management and creativity. A workshop has to be productive and relevant to create memorable experiences. People often hate going to workshops, as they think it is a mere waste of money and time. However, if these are planned well, they can get many involved. A child has to learn according to the norms of the society, and one of the basic skills to be acquired are the communication skills which are mainly learnt from the parents as they are the ones who accompany the child at home when they are born. Parents need to be fully involved in the development of their child as children need to learn at every step and ensure that they are able to get good out of what is being taught to them overall. Anyone planning a workshop has a lot of responsibilities, since it's a big job. Parents often hate going to workshops, as they think it is a mere waste of money and time when they are not aware of the benefits and the outcomes that are gained by attending the workshop. This essay will discuss my workshop plan for parents and children, in the course of which I will provide rationale for the strategies and the approaches I used. I will discuss how I planned to encourage parent's participation, reviewing programs and overcoming possible obstacles. I will finish with recommendations for future practice.

Preferred Outcomes

This workshop shall help the parents create an effective learning environment. Results of a national survey indicate that parents are the greatest influence on their child's decision making abilities. However, parents often have difficulty talking with their children. By providing parents with useful skills, information and resources, we can empower them to develop the competencies needed to be successful in their role as the primary educators of their children. Positive communication between parents and children helps establish family and individual values enabling young people to make healthier, safer and better-informed decisions.

Recommendations

My recommendations including the need for good workshop planning, organization and communication. If one side is not working or loopholes are left during the planning process, the workshop shall not be able to work and produce the desirable results. Workshop planning is like triangle. If one side is missing, you cannot say “This is a Triangle”.
