Upward and Downward Communication Channels

Upward communication refers to the exchange of information in ascending order of organizational hierarchy (low to high). An example of a situation requiring upward communication in an organizational setting would be the communication of problems by employees to their managers. It can also be used to convey results or to make recommendations.
